Character design

Since graduation, a good portion of the projects that I have worked on involve character design. I very much enjoy the process of taking an idea, and literally bringing it to life! There is something very fulfilling about breathing life into my or someone else character ideas, and I hope to get many more opportunities to do so!

The blade project

Last year, I was asked though Gifted Creative Group to design an execute a set of 8 characters to promote sustainable lawn care practices in the city of Savannah for the City of Savannah! The brief involved creating a cast of characters based on a blade of grass; it was challenging, but all parties were happy with the way they turned out. We wanted to represent kooky, quirky, relatable characters that would appeal to all ages. The characters will eventually be used in a campaign to promote not over watering your lawns and being wasteful with water. I think they do a pretty good job of getting the message across!

H!SS Off!

H!ss Off is my personal passion project. I created this cat character a few years ago, and they serve as my avatar and my creative outlet. I love working with strong linework and bright colors, and have created gifs, magnets, stickers, and pins of various designs.

savannah conserves

In 2016, I was asked though Gifted Creative Group, a collaboration of artists and designers that I have been lucky enough to work with since 2016, to create a character and coloring book for the Savannah Conserves program. It was my first project after graduation, and I loved hand inking each of the 20 pages of activities, puzzles and facts! The main character was a sturgeon, which I’ll admit was a little dauting as they’re not the easiest fish to make cute, but we were able to - through the use of a bun and sunglasses - to make Stu the Sturgeon a super “fin” main character!

The party parade

This quirky little cast of characters was created for a project at Soiree Signatures! The characters were for a birthday party invitation for a kid’s birthday party, and were reused by a local baker for a cake for the occasion as well as some party goodies.
